The Journey to the Great Escape

Prior to opening the shop, owner Gordon Forrest managed the White Stuff shop in Edinburgh for a number of years. Before that he taught windsurfing and worked in Boardwise - Edinburgh, selling Windsurf, Surf and Snowboard equipment. Having moved out of Edinburgh to the east coast in the summer of 2004 Gordon felt North Berwick could be the ideal location for this type of shop. After six weeks of renovating the 18th century building Great Escape finally opened in May 2005.

Gordon's main aim is to provide customers with an interesting and varied selection of products to suit all ages.

As small as it maybe the shop stocks a wide variety of brands of 'outdoor', 'lifestyle' and surf / snowboarding clothing as well as wetsuits and surfboards - check out the suppliers list for more details and links to their web sites.
